IF THE FLORIST | Fabulous flowers delivered to Bronte today!
Bronte is a tranquil beachside suburb located seven kilometres east of Sydney`s central business district, in the Eastern Suburbs. Best known for its iconic namesake beach and ocean swimming pool, Bronte also features two trendy dining strips and is home to the cliffside Waverley Cemetery. An elevated coastal walkway runs along the suburb`s ocean cliffs, affording walkers panoramic views across the Pacific Ocean.
In the early 19th century, the area that forms Bronte today was known as Nelson Bay. Robert Lowe, one of the suburb`s earliest British settlers, built a handsome house on his estate in the area and named it Bronte House, in honour of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Bronte. The house still stands today and is listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register. The suburb adopted its present-day name in the 1950s.
Bronte Baths - an ocean swimming pool - is found at the southern end of Bronte Beach and is open to the general public free of charge. Bronte Park extends inland behind the beach`s promenade and features a number of popular picnic huts and public barbeques. A strip of trendy cafes and restaurants is found on Bronte Road at the southern end of the park, overlooking the beach and the Pacific Ocean.
