IF THE FLORIST | Fabulous flowers delivered to St Peters today!
St Peters is a residential and industrial suburb located seven kilometres south of Sydney`s central business district, in the Inner West. St Peters is found between Marrickville, to the west, and Alexandria, to the east. Sydney Park and Alexandra Canal lie adjacent to almost all of the suburb`s eastern and southeastern borders.
St Peters Anglican Church was consecrated, in the area that makes up the suburb today, in 1838. The church is the third oldest Anglican Church in Sydney and the suburb was named in its honour. St Peters Post Office and St Peters railway station opened in 1851 and 1884 respectively. St Peters was a separate municipality from 1871 to 1948, when it amalgamated with the Municipality of Marrickville. Today St Peters exists as its own suburb once more.
Much of eastern and southeastern St Peters is industrial land, while the suburb`s northwestern portion is largely a residential area. St Peters` main shopping strip is found along the Princes Highway, leading into King Street, Newtown. The suburb`s northeastern portion is adjacent to Sydney Park - inner city Sydney`s third largest park.
